BACTERIA IN YOUR TAP WATER

Turn on your tap and out comes a cocktail of water and bacteria. According to a press release from the University of Michigan tap water is teeming with bacteria despite the intensive filtering and disinfection that occur in most of the developed world. But according to U-M researchers this is not necessarily a problem as there are good bacteria, innocuous bacteria and bad bacteria

FIFTEEN PEOPLE DEAD FROM LISTERIOSIS

Listeriosis is a serious infection caused by the bactera Listeria monocytogenes. It is a foodborne illness with the usual culprits being hot dogs, deli meats and soft cheese. In some such ready-to-eat foods, contamination may occur after factory cooking prior to packaging. The problem with the Listeria bacteria is that it can grow and multiply in the refrigerator.
